On Tuesday, June 25 the Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI) presented a webinar hosted by the Municipal Waste Management Association (MWMA), the environmental affiliate of the United States Conference of Mayors.
Lithium-ion batteries can’t be recycled like other types of batteries; crushing, compacting, and landfilling can lead to dangerous fire and groundwater contamination hazards. ESRI’s Vice President and Executive Director, Dr. Judy Jeevarajan, spoke about the Be Nice To Your Device campaign and shared insights on the safe recycling of lithium-ion batteries.
